Since joining Cascadia in 2006, Jessica has worked on a broad range of projects, from quantitative data analysis and qualitative research to zero waste planning and program evaluation. As Director of Sustainable Waste Planning, Jessica develops data-driven waste reduction plans that are informed by the many research reports squirreled away in her personal zero waste library. She takes pride in having modeled Oregon’s recycling collection system from curb to market to analyze the potential effects of major statewide changes and support implementation of Oregon’s Recycling Modernization Act. As Director of Evaluation, Jessica spends a statistically significant portion of her time on surveys and evaluations to inform and measure behavior change programs, with a special focus on natural yard care and stormwater pollution prevention. As Director of Quality, she continually improves Cascadia’s quality assurance and control processes while also leading our in-house Editorial Board and Survey Advisory Board. At her desk, Jessica enjoys crunching numbers and international snacks, writing clear and approachable reports, and creating engaging data visualizations. In the kitchen (home and office), Jessica relishes brewing tea and remixing leftovers into delicious zero waste meals.
