Project overview

Cascadia provides programmatic support for the Green Seattle Partnership (GSP). The Green Seattle Partnership is a collaborative effort to restore and maintain Seattle’s urban forest. Cascadia works in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, community-based organizations, neighborhood groups, youth leaders, and over 100 restoration volunteers to build access and connections to nearby nature, improve the health of the Puget Sound, strengthen community, and take action to address climate change.

Approach and impact

Since 2017, our team has supported 6 trainings each year on urban forest restoration topics to promote the restoration work of community non-profits and volunteer Forest Stewards.

In addition to training and facilitation, Cascadia develops content for GSP’s social media accounts, publishes the monthly newsletter, oversees all web and graphic updates, coordinates the Partnership’s public engagement committee and other partner meetings, and ensures data integrity and security for GSP’s event and volunteer management platform. For the past 3 years, Cascadia has overseen the planning, coordination and recruitment of 300-500 volunteers to participate in Seattle Forest Week, a celebration of the urban forest with volunteer and partner-led events across the city that is designed to kick off the planting season and engage Seattleites in nearby nature.
