Cascadia supported the City of Burien and the StormFest Committee in planning and executing the 2025 StormFest event, an annual 3-day field-based stormwater education event for Highline Public Schools 6th grade students. StormFest brings together students, educators, and community members to inspire environmental stewardship in local watersheds. Students learn about pollution sources and solutions to prevent stormwater pollution—with a focus on supporting equitable learning opportunities.

Cascadia developed and implemented an engagement plan, messaging, and materials including flyers, social media graphics, emails, and other marketing templates to recruit educators and volunteers who would support the event. We partnered with Dirt Corps—a community-based organization focused on ecological restoration—to successfully reach, recruit, and onboard 50 StormFest Educators and 26 volunteers.  Our translation, transcreation, and interpretation (TTI) team translated the flyer and social media graphics into Spanish and coordinated with event day interpreters in Spanish, Dari, Vietnamese, and Amharic.

Cascadia supported event logistics, too, and created 3 days of detailed schedules for Station Educators and volunteers to ensure a smooth run of events.

StormFest 2025 successfully hosted students, educators, and local environmental professionals who each brought information, perspectives, and ideas on preventing stormwater pollution and building healthy local ecosystems. We are thrilled to support this important event: the connections made there will help empower future pollution prevention, stewardship, and community health.
