We codesign community solutions to reduce food waste and support resilience, providing tailored technical assistance and building partnerships to ensure that unsold, quality food is shared with people in need.
More than 19% of commercial waste is food. At the same time, food banks nationwide are experiencing record demand as they work to supply our neighbors with nutritious meals. Cascadia works with communities to bridge the gaps between commercial food waste generators and local food recovery organizations to reduce the amount of good, quality food that is unnecessarily wasted. We develop customized tools to address common food recovery issues such as storage, transportation, communication, data collection, and standardization, and our technical assistance specialists build capacity by leading trainings, providing in-language tools, and connecting people to helpful funding and resources for tracking, monitoring, and reporting their food recovery and donations.
